Understanding Conservatism and Liberalism

One of the most frustrating dimensions of political discussion today is how many people using terms such as liberalism and conservatism, and identifying with one of them, have no clear understanding of how they relate to one another, or even to what they mean.  A better understanding clears up many misunderstandings, and so might help us communicate better. Over at Witches and Pagans I am publishing a three part discussion of these issues that I believe a person can benefit from reading even if you have no interest in Pagan thought. Here is Part I.
